Shropshire's top art exhibitions

Marches Independent Photography

Take me, a photograph by Colin Thomas
Works on show at Theatre Severn were chosen by the photographers

See work by Marches Independent Photography at Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury from 3 February to 3 April.

All of the photographs on show have been chosen by the person who took them which means each image is personal and not necessarily produced to conform.

The group meets once a month and members aim to encourage experimentation and innovation alongside the development of classic photographic skills.

Meetings are informal with photographs passed around a table rather than presented in a more formal way.

There is also a rolling slide show of photographs by members of the group at Shrewsbury's Old Market Hall to coincide with the exhibition at Theatre Severn.

Sports and Arts in the Community (SpArC) in Bishop's Castle

Ninety photographs are on show in Bishop's Castle

An exhibition of portraits using a portable photo booth is on show at SpArC leisure centre in Bishop's Castle in February.

A level photography student Florence Kerry took the photo booth to Burwarton Show and other events in 2010 and invited people to have their portrait taken free of charge.

The aim was to capture the essence of a day out on a British summer's day and the resulting ninety photographs include people with family, friends, pets, musical instruments and even a large plant.

The exhibition is free, and runs until the end of February.

Bridget A Robertson is inspired by images of North Africa

The Granary Art Gallery at Weston Park features work by Bridget A Robertson during February.

The artist works in oil and sometimes pastel and takes her inspiration from North Africa including the Marrakesh garden of Yves Saint Laurent.

Her recent works are on show and for sale at Weston Park and any profits made by the gallery is spent on educational work.

The Granary is open daily from 11am-4pm and entry is free.
