A steam engine at Bridgnorth
The Rally in the Valley starts on Friday, 17 July and runs until Sunday, 19 July at Severn Park in Bridgnorth. There are more than 300 exhibits from as far away as Sussex, Derbyshire and the Wirral and include engines dating back to the 1870s. One exhibit is a steam tractor which started its working life hauling grain to Ridley's Seeds Mill Street, Lowtown in 1918. Entertainment includes brass bands and more than 120 Morris dancers.

There will be plenty for children to do and an expert coracle maker will be demonstrating his craft. There will be more than 50 trade stands and an interesting variety of foods and drink . The Trevithick 200 charity will be displaying its full size replica of the 1808 'Catch Me Who Can' engine which is close to being ready for track testing to obtain Railway Inspectorate approval to carry passengers. The new engine was made at Hazeldine's Foundry near Severn Park. The weekend begins on Friday night in the main marquee with the Bridgnorth Community Choir and The Plonkers Agricultural Showband.
Brass Band Festival
The Green at Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron and Enginuity is the new venue for the Ironbridge Gorge Brass Band Festival on July 18 and 19.

The entertainment starts on Saturday at 11am with the Fanfare of Festival Youth and on Sunday events start at 12 noon with Brass Roots and finished with a Grand Finale from the Jackfield Elcock Riesen Band. On Saturday evening, Radio Shropshire's Jim Hawkins comperes a Last Night of the Proms concert in the Engine Shed at Enginuity with the proceeds going to the Severn Hospice Appeal.
Festival at the Edge
Festival at the Edge, arguably the largest storytelling festival in the country, starts on Friday, 17 July and runs until Sunday, 19 at Stokes Barn near Much Wenlock. Singer songwriter, Harvey Andrews and poet, Les Barker are both on the bill along with Jan Blake who is making her second appearance at the festival. She will present a new multi arts commission with musicians, Raymond and Kouame Sereba.

Simon Costin will be based near the craft marquee with his Museum of British Folklore Caravan. He is hoping to open a full size museum in the future. From Wales come Guto Dafis who tells stories, plays the melodeon and sings and Huw Davies who loves the folklore and myths of Wales. Adrian Edmondson and the Bad Shepherds will be entertaining with their punk music played on folk instruments and historical re-enactor, Jayne Milner will be giving lectures on the History of Medicine. Young Storyteller of the Year for 2009, Wilf Merttens will be at the Festival along with Ruth Boycott_Garnett whose performance was highly commended. Under 18 winner Jake Evans and runner-up Luke Weller will also be there.
Newport Show
This year marks the 100th Newport Show and it is being billed as 'a day not to be missed'. SHow President, Robert Watson Jones said: "We are really pulling out all the stops to make this milestone show one to remember."

Main ring attractions include motorcycle stuntman Jamie Squibb and the Shire Horse of the Year Championship Qualifier. New this year will be the parade of farm machinery through the ages and there are clowns, gymnasts, Morris Men and freestyle dance displays for the youngsters. The food hall offers live cookery demonstrations and a regional food.
Welshpool Air Show
The second Welshpool Airshow takes place on the Shropshire Mid Wales border on Saturday, 18 July.
The RAF Falcons

The RAF are closely involved with the show and the Lancaster from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will be doing a fly past. The RAF Falcons Display Team will be parachuting onto the showground. Also on offer will be helicopter rides, fairground rides, dog displays, classic cars and a paintball dome.
