Telford hosts Park Live festival

Fight The Bear at Park Live

On Saturday 25 July, I joined Telford's teenagers at the Town Park for the free Park Live festival, featuring some of Shropshire's best bands and even a few big names.

Headlining the event was Casino, featuring Stereophonics' Adam Zindani and Dean Deavall from Feeder.

The line up also included local bands Fight The Bear, Babytwin, Capture Kendal and The Jackdaws, winners of the Shropshire Star Battle of the Bands 2009 competition.

When I arrived at the festival, Fight The Bear were getting the crowd warmed up and I soon realised that I was in the minority for not knowing the local group's lyrics like the back of my hand!

While many people enjoyed live acts from the front row, others chose to sit and enjoy the line up with a picnic basket. Despite some great music, it was a shame the event didn't attract a larger audience.

Janice Williams from Telford & Wrekin Council hoped that the festival would encourage young and old to make better use of the town's parks.
