Delhi-based Sameer (Shahid) comes to Mumbai to make it big in the film industry. Working as a courier boy to pay his keep, Sameer fails every audition he attends.

Soon, his dancing skills is noticed by a director (Mohnish) promising him his dream debut. He meets Tina (Genelia), the film's choreographer, who he later falls in love with.

But tragedy strikes our hero when the director decides to select his leading man through X Factor style television show.

Penniless and nowhere to live, a disillusioned Sameer takes up residence in his old car working as a children's dance teacher to pay for his daily bread.

Tina becomes his moral support during this difficult period convincing Sameer to enter the television contest.

Will Sameer triumph against all odds to achieve his long standing goal?

Director Ghosh's screenplay is unconvincing due to many melodramatic sub-plots diluting the main theme.

With a predictable storyline about a struggler achieving his aim, Ghosh should have paid more attention to improving the script and making the narrative more engrossing.

Also, better characterisation of the lead stars would have made them seem more true-to-life.

The musical score could have also been more peppy and catchy, particularly considering it is a song and dance orientated film. Unfortunately, this is not the case with Chance Pe Dance.

The highlight of this musical comes from its excellent choreography. Full credit goes to dance choreographers Ahmed Khan and Marty Kudelka.

Shahid Kapoor is superb as the nimble-footed dancer flowing effortlessly through his dance steps. He gives a convincing performance despite a weak script and poor characterisation.

Genelia charmingly plays her role as Tina giving Sameer a shoulder to cry on in his hour of need.

Chance Pe Dance is strictly for die-hard Shahid Kapoor fans who love him for his novel dancing skills.
