91 years on: Shropshire remembers
Poppies
Sales of artificial poppies hope to raise about £30m for the British Legion

Remembrance Day on 11 November remains a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by the UK's armed services in two world wars and more recent conflicts.

A traditional two-minute silence will be marked at workplaces across Shropshire at 11am on 11 November.

For many, Remembrance Sunday on 8 November offers an even greater chance for reflection.

Many of the county's churches will be expecting larger congregations this Sunday as people pay their respects.

The significance of the occasion shows no sign of fading - 38 million poppies have been produced this year, two million more than last year and almost 10 million more than a decade ago.

BBC Shropshire's Remembrance Sunday service, recorded at St Andrew's Church in Shifnal, will be broadcast at 7am.
