You could hear your music while watching the cricket
|
Yorkshire County Cricket Club is encouraging talented unsigned Yorkshire bands to become part of the Club's official soundtrack to the 2010 season. From classical to rock, easy listening to indie, the music has to reflect the highs and lows of a cricket season. All entrants will receive two free tickets to a home game at Headingley Carnegie Cricket Ground in 2010. Also the chosen music will be featured on the club website throughout the year. Any music featured will be fully accredited and links provided to the band's website or social networking page. Selected entrants will also receive airplay on Yorkshire Radio, an Official Media Partner of the Club. James Buttler, PR & Communications Manager, said: "Last season we had a great response and used music from The Loose Chippings, D-Nile and Dead Like Harry amongst others." "Unsigned bands can support the Club and get some much needed exposure. Who knows your song may even become the teams 'run on' music for our 2010 Twenty20 campaign." If your would like to lend your musical support to the cricket club with the proudest history in domestic cricket, send a CD to: James Buttler PR & Communications Manager, Yorkshire County Cricket Club, Headingley Carnegie Stadium, St Michael's Lane, Leeds LS7 3BU
...or email an mp3 of your music to
YCCC.
Either way, don't forget to include some background information about the band.
The Duckworth Lewis Method - playing with a straight bat
|
Applications must be received before the 31st December 2009. Who knows? This could be the start of a major cricket/music crossover following the release of the first album by The Duckworth Lewis Method - a band formed by Neil Hannon, formerly of The Divine Comedy. Hannon, a cricket-obsessed Irishman, made sure the album was released in perfect timing for the 2009 Ashes Series and it features tracks such as 'Rain Stopped Play', 'Test Match Special' and 'Meeting Mr Miandad' - their tribute to rotund run-getter for Pakistan in the 1970s and 1980s, Javed Miandad.
