Hundreds of organisations are using grant money from Children in Need to help improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people. Despite the economic conditions, the 2008 Appeal raised a record breaking £37.8m which has helped more than 700 projects across the UK. In Oxfordshire more than £118,000 has been awarded to three projects in local grants. This year, Friday 20 November, marks the 30th BBC Children in Need Appeal.

Rebecca Everett from Chenderit School has organised with her friends a cake sale, guess the weight of the cake, how many sweets are in the jar and a Formal day. Emma Whitehurst and friends have being selling cakes in their pjs in Witney Friday 13th November Jessica Long from Kidlington is having a bath of salad for 45 minutes! Saturday 14th November There will be a Zumba Fitness Jam at the Kidlington Gosford Leisure Centre. The latest dance craze is Latin inspired and open to all. The Wheatsheaf pub car park Wantage Road Didcot is holding an event with a bungee jump from a 200ft crane, a raffle, climbing wall, and lots more. Kirsty Sudbury and her sister are walking from Banbury to Oxford. They say that according to Google it should take between 7 - 8 1/2 hours. Wednesday 18th November Year 7 from Larkmead School are holding a Charity Fair to raise money for Children In Need. There will be various stalls and activities going on during the afternoon such as raffles, cake stalls and games. Thursday 19th November Pudsey goes to the dogs. BBC Oxford are going to be naming the evenings races after our programmes and presenters. South Stoke Primary School is having a spotty day, where all children and staff wear spots and all the normal school day activities have something to do with spots.

Friday 20th November Pudsey knows best. The public can join Lou and her experts live from Templar Square Shopping Centre and get some advice for a donation. Plus we will have some other fun and games going on as well. (10am to 1pm).

Pudsey party in Banbury. BBC Oxford Television News are going to be live from the North Oxfordshire town during the evening, which will be hosted by our very own Wesley Smith. Woodstock CE Primary School's 'Be Dotty Go Spotty'. Everyone is coming in covered in spots! Monies raised will cover Giant Pudsey on the school hall floor. Angela Holden is going to invade all the pubs in Wantage and get the people to donate to Children In Need. They will be in fancy dress. Fabia Cerra from Oxford is holding a tea, coffee and biscuits morning for mums/friends and neighbours. 11 year old Hannah Talbot and 4 of her friends from Deddington Primary School Year 6 swam as many lengths of Bloxham School swimming pool as they could in half an hour. They swam 186 lengths between them and raised over £300. The children of Appleton Primary School will be doing jobs for family and friends for 10 days running up to Children In Need and on the night. As a reward for all their hard work the school will be holding a bedtime stories for Children In Need evening. The children will come dressed for bed (with teddies) to drink cocoa & cookies and listen to storytellers, including a story by the High Sheriff of Oxfordshire. The Wallingford Rotary Club and their helpers will be out in force in Wallingford from 7am to 7pm. They have 86 people collecting money including the MP Ed Vaizey and the Mayor. They'll be manning the Lamb crossroads in the middle of the town, either end of Wallingford Bridge, and around the town centre. Saturday 21st November Pudsey goes for a walk. The get active walk is taking on a spotty bear theme for its walk around Cumnor.
