A Tornado steams through Didcot

The Tornado puts in an appearance at Didcot Railway Centre

You may have already seen this beautiful steam train in action on the BBC's Top Gear programme.

In the most recent series it helped transport Jeremy Clarkson from London to Edinburgh in a race with James May's Jaguar XK120.

The Tornado is the first new main line steam locomotive to be built in Britain for almost 50 years.

From 16 August to 2 September 2009 it will be at the Didcot Railway Centre to inspect at close quarters.

It cost £3m to build from scratch over a 20 year period and can travel on the standard network because it carries the latest railway safety electronics.

There are various points during the train's stay at the museum when visitors will be able to take a ride onboard, with some very exclusive chances to actually drive the Tornado!

The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust that owns the train is seeking to raise funds to repay the £700,000 borrowed to complete her construction.
