The walks are a great way of getting exercise and meeting new people.

The next walk will be on Saturday 18 July, 2009 starting from Shilton, near Burford. We'll meet near the layby on the left just past Ladburn Lane at the top of the hill going out of Shilton at 10.45am to start about 11.00am. The walk takes us to Signet, Holwell and a disused airfield near Kencot Hill Farm. It's longer than usual, over eight miles but it is mostly flat and will be led at a pace to suit everybody. Unfortunately we couldn't find a way to include Westwell without making it far too long. So, apologies for altering the advertised route. The route uses paths, tracks and country roads and as always it's best to be prepared for the worst and wear walking boots. I hope we're not pushing our luck with the weather but we plan to have a picnic during the walk. So don't forget your lunch! However, there is a pub in Shilton if required! So, whether you've joined us before or not, and feel that you can manage this walk put the date in your diary and come with us. As usual well behaved dogs will be welcome on the walk. The weather of course is unpredictable and unknown at this stage. We will walk in all but the worst conditions but if you're in any doubt about whether the walk is going ahead listen to Phil Mercer's show on the Saturday morning between 6am and 9am. Many charities encourage walking as a way of raising money. So before the start of the walk we are asking for a donation of £1 for a chosen charity. So far we have raised over £800 for both local and national charities. Before the walk this month we'll make a collection for The NASIO Trust which is a UK-based Christian Charity primarily working with HIV-orphaned children in Kenya.
