People have been playing Pooh Sticks at Days Lock since the 80s

A date has been set for the 2011 World Pooh Sticks Championships.

On Sunday 27 March the 28 year old event will attract players from around the world to Days Lock in Little Wittenham, Oxfordshire.

In 2009 about 2,000 spectators and 800 competitors played in team and individual events but last year's was cancelled due to high water.

The game was invented by A.A. Milne, writer of the Winnie the Pooh books, and involves racing sticks under a bridge.

Money raised by the Rotary Club organisers will go to the RNLI and the local church's roof restoration project.
