Nottinghamshire sings Hallelujah

The BBC Radio Nottingham choir rehearses the Hallelujah Chorus

Over 100 people from all over the county have joined BBC Radio Nottingham presenter Anthony Isaacs to form a choir.

They met and rehearsed at St Peter's Church in the city centre.

The choir plan to sing the Hallelujah Chorus in Nottingham by the end of November.

Sing Hallelujah is a project which encourages people to find their voice and discover the joy of singing through Handel's famous Hallelujah.

After two rehearsals the choir is preparing for its first public performance on Saturday, 28 November, 2009 at St Peter's Church next to Marks and Spencer.

Support your local choir

It is too late to get involved but you can be part of the audience to show your support for the singers. Final rehearsals start at 10.00am with the performance taking place just after 11.00am. It will be broadcast live on BBC Radio Nottingham.

Anthony Isaacs said: "I've been utterly amazed by the response. Listeners always surprise me by what they'd like to do.

"But really when you look at it we're all getting together to sing, to enjoy ourselves and make new friends. It's got to be good."

Anthony Isaacs presents BBC Radio Nottingham's Sunday Breakfast show from 6.00am (on DAB, online and 103.8FM and 95.5FM).
