Monsters from the BBC's Doctor Who TV series invaded the Old Market Square, Nottingham, on Wednesday 1 September 2010.
The monsters were in the city to promote the forthcoming Doctor Who Live tour, which visits the Nottingham Arena in October.
The show promises special effects, optical illusions and fireworks. The Doctor (Matt Smith) will make an appearance in specially recorded scenes.
The show's stage manager Dave McEvoy promises the show will have "lots and lots of monsters" including the Ood, Cybermen, Daleks and Silurian.
Mr McEvoy added: "The Cyberman is really scary. People look cautiously and then back off!"
The monsters were played by Karl Greenwood and Jenny Phillips. Mr Greenwood said: "There's a mixed reaction. Most of it is terror! [However] you get people that are totally enthralled."
There were a few scared faces on the Nottingham Riveria.
It is not every day that 18th century inspired clockwork robots invade your city...
Doctor Who Live will be at the Nottingham Arena on 25 and 26 October, 2010. For more information visit www.doctorwholive.com
