Two BBC Radio Nottingham listeners have sparked a campaign for an official flag for Nottinghamshire. Jane Bealby and Mike Gaunt both separately contacted presenter Andy Whittaker with the idea. Flag design by Mike Gaunt.

Many other counties already have a flag, amongst them Lincolnshire, Cornwall, Devon, Yorkshire and Derbyshire but there is not currently a flag for Nottinghamshire registered with the Flag Instituite. Design by Richard Odams.
The Flag Institute state that simple designs make a good flag. "A Sherwood Forest green cross on a white background would look great on t-shirts," Neil Heath said of his design.
"My design incorporates the Major Oak, city coat of ams, Nottingham Castle and Robin Hood using the colours green, white and black as they are bold and stand out," said Richard Woodcock.

"My design has the red St George's cross of England edged in white. The background is green, specifically Lincoln green, which is the shade associated with Robin Hood," Thomas Randall, Arnold.

In 2009, Anthony D Beardsley sent Nottingham City Council his proposed design for a Nottinghamshire flag (pictured).
Ivor Munn has designed a flag with the 'Sherwood green' of Nottinghamshire and the cross of St George with an arrow to represent Robin Hood.
This flag, designed by Tony O'Neill, incorporates Nottinghamshire's coat of arms, with the city's coat of arms in the centre.
Richard Williams said he has used the official Nottinghamshire colours of green and gold with the city shield in a blue field on the canton.
Tony Field from Mansfield opted for a Nottinghamshire flag with what he considers the primary colours of the county with a reference to Robin Hood.
