In session: Haiki Loki

Watch Haiki Loki perform two tracks at the BBC Nottingham studios

Haiki Berhane, of Haiki Loki, only started playing the guitar in 2003 but has already appeared at Glastonbury.

On her quick mastering of the instrument, she said it had evolved naturally and organically.

When it comes to writing songs, Haiki said: "Whatever my guitar gives me I work with... but the old soul [and] jazz is a big input."

She settled in Nottingham after choosing to live with her sister who was studying in the city.

"Most of my songs are formed on relationships. It can be platonic, romantic but Double Bubble is an obvious love song."

Haiki Loki was a guest of BBC Radio Nottingham's The Beat with Dean Jackson. You can listen to the show every Saturday from 6.00 - 10.00pm.

BBC Radio Nottingham is broadcast on 103.8, 95.5FM, 1584AM and DAB.

Listen to the latest edition of The Beat on the BBC iPlayer.
