Songwriter Costin on 'Regrets'
Huw Costin

Former Earth the Californian Love Dream front-man Huw Costin has finally released his debut album.

In 2005, Huw released a promo version of his solo album, Regrets, but despite the plaudits he couldn't get a record deal.

He said of his frustration looking for a deal: "It takes a lot of banging heads against walls forever and ever."

Now four years after putting together his original demo Regrets is available to buy.

He said:"It was a surge of work and although it's taken a long time to come out and get mastered, the actual writing was done over a few months.

"[Releasing the album] is a way to thank all of those people involved and giving it to them and saying thank you very much."

I've got faith in myself as a writer but I've always had a hang-up about my musical capability in terms of playing. I can't read music or anything like that

Huw is the bassist and co-singer/songwriter of Nottingham super-group Cold Light of Day.

The band includes Rich Warren, formerly of Echoboy and The Hybirds.

In such company, Huw admits to feeling musically inadequate. He said:

"I've got faith in myself as a writer but I've always had a hang-up about my musical capability in terms of playing. I can't read music or anything like that."

"The people I play with are just stunning.... They give me real confidence as a writer, they can really bring out the song which is just wonderful for me."
