Unity is a voluntary football and education project which has brought together 16 to 25-year-olds from Nottingham's rival gang areas of Radford, Broxtowe, Bestwood, the Meadows and St Ann's.

They played their first match against an IX from Ilkeston Town on 23 November, 2005 and now Unity has over 100 young people from inner city Nottingham on its books.

The project is being recognised at the BBC Sports Awards 2009 for the difference it has made to the community using the power of sport.
