Playgroup sponsored walk
A sponsored toddle round Conwy shows even the youngest can help

Hundreds of organisations are using grant money from Children in Need to help improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people.

Despite the economic conditions, the 2008 Appeal raised a record breaking £37.8m which has helped more than 700 projects across the UK.

The groups to benefit are those that help vulnerable children and families.

In north west Wales the Colwyn and Aberconwy Women's Aid groups received £34,444 and £12,458 respectively to support children affected by domestic violence, and the Bangor and District group was awarded £5,000.

South Gwynedd Women's Aid were granted £14,000, while Cwmni Cofis Bach in Caernarfon received £24,972 for a children's drama project.

All-Wales organisations to receive grants included the Christian Lewis Trust, which offers children bereavement support, Voices from Care and Sense UK.
