Inside Talacre lighthouse

Imposing Point of Ayr lighthouse on Talacre beach - surrounded by a sea of sand

Warden Alistair had a struggle to open the lighthouse door due to the strong wind

Inside there were three floors, all white-washed and with wooden stairs leading to the next floor

And on each floor there's a window giving an unspoilt view over the sprawling beach

A lighthouse has stood on Talacre Beach since 1776, according to online encyclopedia Wikipedia

The lighthouse was last used in 1844 but, since then, it has become a tourist attraction with stories and sightings to do with a ghost which is supposed to be that of a lighthouse keeper

In its prime, the lighthouse was painted with red and white stripes

Prior to being taken out of service, the lighthouse displayed two lights; one shining out on Liverpool Bay towards Llandudno and another shining up the Dee estuary

It's only when standing up close to the lighthouse can you appreciate its size as the landmark itself is dwarfed by Talacre beach

Photographer Quinny waited at sunset to grab this photo of the lighthouse seemingly illuminating the beach front once again
