Clwydian Range: Big year celebrated in photos

The BBC Local web team invites people to upload their own photos of the hills and countryside to mark the range's 25th anniversary as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty 2010 and the 200th anniversary of Jubilee Tower, Moel Famau, in October.

A number of events to mark the anniversary are to be held, including a procession to the tower on 24 October.

"We want to show this amazing landscape in all weathers and all seasons," said website producer Nick Bourne.

"Contributors have so far sent some great photos.

"No two pictures ever seem to be the same due to the variety of colours in the flora and fauna and the weather seems to have a big effect on the appearance of the landscape too."

In all, the "Clwyds" span 35km (22 miles) in length from the Vale of Clwyd in the west to the foothills of the Dee estuary to the east; from Prestatyn Hillside in the north to the Nant y Garth pass in the south.

Its highest point is 554 metres (1817ft) at the summit of Moel Famau in the centre of the range, giving views which stretch as far as Blackpool Tower on a clear day.
