This photo of the cottage is thought to date from the 1920s
A conservation plan aims to clear the land in front of the remains of a worker's cottage to create a flower rich hay meadow. Demolished in the 1960s, a request for old photos of the cottage has so far resulted in the above which is said to date from the 1920s. Another photo was submitted by one of the last people to stay there in the 1960s, by which time the cottage was being used for holiday lets.
The scene where the cottage used to stand

As part of plans for the area it's hoped to re-create the original floor plans of the cottage. The enclosure in front of the cottage has been cleared of the tree stumps which have been there since the timber was removed five years ago. A dry stone wall surrounding the enclosure is being re-built and the ground will be prepared for sowing the wildflower seed mix in the spring. Anyone with memories of the cottage is asked to contact Sharon Woods, the Forest Partnership warden, on 01352 810 614.
