Katherine Jenkins performs at the opening night gala at Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod.

Other artists include violinist Nigel Kennedy, composer Karl Jenkins, choir Only Men Aloud and pianist Llŷr Williams.

Nigel Kennedy first played at the eisteddfod in 1998 and returns 12 years later with a programme of works by Bach and Ellington, reflecting his interest in both classical music and jazz.

The eisteddfod opens (5 July) with a gala concert starring Katherine Jenkins, and it's the following night when Welsh composer Karl Jenkins will be conducting his Mass for Peace with a 'Wales and the World' choir and an eisteddfod debut for Sinfonia Cymru.

The programme also includes a performances of Beethoven's 3rd Concerto with local musician and world renowned pianist Llŷr Williams.

Other highlights include a visit by four-piece string band Bond, whose evening concert - Shine - will also include dancers and a 100-strong choir of children.

Only Men Aloud, the winning choir in the BBC's Last Choir Standing competition, will make their first appearance at the eisteddfod (9 July) and will be singing Welsh favourites among other pieces.

And last, but not least, there will be hundreds of performers from 50 nations performing in the pavilion and on the show field during the course of the festival.
