'Progress' by Jonathan Brier
Where are you from originally, and where are you now? Originally from York but now living in Wrexham. How did you get started as an artist? I have always doodled and drawn so I guess that it was just natural to continue doing something that I enjoyed. What medium/media do you work in? Mostly pencil and oil but I'm just starting to experiment with charcoal a little. How would you describe your work? I'm predominantly a figurative painter with a representational style and to sum up, I would say that it's simplicity with soul that I aim for in my work. What are your influences and inspirations? Do you draw inspiration from your local area? Inspiration and influence is everywhere, but consistently from my better half. Where has your work been shown? My work has mainly been shown in galleries and exhibitions around the north Wales border area including Shrewsbury, Wrexham and Chester. I have had a solo exhibition in the Majenta Gallery in the Wrexham Arts Centre, 'A Portrait of Wales' and I have also had a piece in the Grosvenor Museum Open in Chester.
