By Katy Webster
Where are you from originally, and where are you now? I'm from North Yorkshire originally, and I've lived in Wales for 10 years. I'm living in Wrexham at the moment. How did you get started as an artist? I went to printmaking and ceramics classes before studying for a degree in fine art at Glyndwr University. What medium/media do you work in? Most of my work is oil painting but I have also made film and site specific work. How would you describe your work? Abstract landscape-based paintings. What are your influences and inspirations? Do you draw inspiration from your local area? I am inspired by human marks on the land and places with a sense of history. I am interested in the parallels between the surface of the land and the surface of the painting. Where has your work been shown? My work has been shown in the Wales Millennium Centre, the Front Room exhibition in Bristol and at several galleries around north east Wales. Upcoming exhibitions are shown on my website.
