Where are you from originally, and where are you now?

I was brought up in Kent, but have lived in Shropshire, right on the Welsh border, for 28 years.

How did you get started as an artist?

I was a GP for 24 years and became increasingly desperate to do something creative. After attending weekly painting classes I gave up my job and went to Glyndwr University in Wrexham to take a degree in fine art which I finished June '07. I expected to be a painter but ended up as a sculptor.

What medium/media do you work in?

Stone carving is my favourite medium, but I have also worked in ceramics and polystyrene.

How would you describe your work?

I start from natural forms, often the human body, and then develop the sculpture from there. My work is very rounded with clean lines and shapes.

What are your influences and inspirations? Do you draw inspiration from your local area?

I am inspired by the beauty of the area I live in. My artistic influences include Eric Gill, Jacob Epstein, Niki de Sainte Phalle and Picasso.

Where has your work been shown?

I have shown work in Wrexham, Mold, Chester, Kent and Mount Pleasant Gardens, Kelsall, near Chester.
