The Centre of Sound is helping young people to relax and be calm.

Organisations across Northamptonshire are using Children in Need grant money to help young people.

Last year £36 million was raised for the charity.

One of the groups that benefited from this was the Centre for Sound, which offers adults and children the chance to immerse themselves in a gong bath.

The centre received £4000 from Children in Need which it used to pay for special relaxation sessions for young people.

Kizzy McDonald, one of the directors of Centre for Sound said: "Relaxation is our main thing because for some of our client groups, just being able to let go of stress and tension really helps people to be calm, a bit like meditation really."

Clients lie down on mats with pillows and blankets, close their eyes and sink into the sound of musical instruments.

Gongs and Tibetan singing bowls are among the instruments used to help people relax mind and body.

The money that they received has helped them provide nearly a year's worth of workshops for young people who particularly need their help.

"If they're in mainstream education in a Designated Special Provision, that relaxing sound bath can help them integrate better into mainstream school and a regular series of those sound baths can be very relaxing for those kids and really help them with their social skills, " said Kizzy.
