Profile: Mark Dean

Mark does a lot of work in the community

Presents Atlantic Soul on Fridays 7-8pm, The Inspiration Show every Sunday from 4pm to 6pm.

He also co-presents The Green Welly Show every Sunday 12pm-2pm on BBC Radio Northampton.

Born in Northampton, Mark Dean has always been involved in the media. Mark trained in radio production at Northampton College and began his media journey from 1992.

Making a name for himself as a local DJ Mark knew radio was his calling and decided to form a Northampton based community station 'Inspirations FM'.

Community Station

This station Broadcasts from studios in Sheep Street Northampton playing R&B, Reggae, Gospel, Rap, Jazz, Dance, Asian, African, Greek and Irish Folk music.

Mark wanted to make a station by the people for the people and Inspiration FM has been going strong since 1996 to this day.

In 2000 Mark was approached by BBC Radio Northampton's Editor and about presenting a programme to reach all sectors of the community and the show Inspirations was formed.

With Mark's strong links within the community the Inspirations Show has been going strong covering hard hitting local and international news, and guest stars like Beyonce.

But Mark doesn't just present Inspirations, in the past he has presented the Early riser programme, Saturday shows and summer season programmes in studio.

Mark is a prominent standing figure in the community, you have anything happening locally, Mark is there.
