Last year's Festinho main stage
A new music festival in Northamptonshire is offering local bands the chance to play in front of thousands of people.
Festinho is taking place at Hinwick House on 27 - 29 August.
The festival organisers are hosting a virtual battle of the bands on their website, www.festinho.com.
All money raised at the festival goes to the ABC Trust, which helps to support community projects for underprivileged children in Brazil.
Starting out as a garden party for one of the members of the ABC Trust, Festinho has grown each year to become a much loved 'boutique' style festival.
As well as a wide range of music, the festival boasts great activities for children and a laid back family atmosphere that aims to bring the spirit of Brazil to the rural Northamptonshire countryside.
Launching the battle of the bands on the Weekender, festival director Simon Strick said: "We are genuinely very keen to connect with the local area. One of the many ways we'd like to do that is by giving an unsigned band from Northamptonshire the chance to play on our main stage."
"It's a great way for us to find out what the local talent is like and a great way for a local band to get a great gig."
Bands apply through the website, where they can upload a track which will then be made available to the public to listen to on Soundcloud, a music hosting site.
The three tracks with the most votes by 9 August will go through to the final. The winning band / performer will be chosen by a panel and notified no later than 20 August.
Simon explained what the panel will be looking for: "We are looking for an indefinable quality, something sparky which sets them aside from other kinds of bands. Someone who makes me prick my ears up and think wow! That sounds interesting!"
