Jan and Chris Rogers of Eastcote, Northamptonshire decided to do some home renovation and they made a fascinating discovery.
When Jan's son knocked down the bathroom wall he found over one hundred newspapers dating back to the 1920's.
Most of papers were National publications, some suffering from damp but in a good condition.
Jan and Chris spent hours reading into the past. "We spent more time reading the papers than fixing the bathroom."
Copies of the Northampton Chronicle and many editions of The Radio Times were found. Chris wanted to knock more walls down to see if there were anymore articles in the house.
"Jan was having none of it, she refused to break down any more walls even though I would have done it," said Chris.
Chris was gripped by the Radio Times "One edition featured a conference that was held in Geneva about the Radio wave lengths that would effect the radio signal generated in Daventry."
"It's a far cry from the digital age we have today."
Interested in finding out more on their discovery other than it being a cheap form of insulation, Jan, and Chris started a quest of learning more about the village of Eastcote.
With the help of BBC Northampton's Julia Morgan, they have set out to find who would have lived there.
