Scenic paintings were placed in 'portholes' around restaurant
|
The remains of an old Clipper plane lie below Oliver Adams' bakery on Wood Hill in Northampton. Pre-war, a Mr Ockly took over the business with his children and created a small restaurant called The Clipper under the Corner House Shop site. He transformed the bakery and brought seats from an old Clipper plane to try to create the restaurant in the style of the aircraft. Mr Ockly ran the restaurant until it was destroyed by a chip pan fire. All that remains are pieces of the plane and the paintings of the scenery which were placed in the old restaurants' portholes.
