Hylda Davies met stars on her trip including judge Craig Revel Horwood

Actor and former EastEnder Ricky Groves is enjoying support on the hit dance show Strictly Come Dancing from his biggest fan - his grandmother. Living in Burnham Market, north Norfolk, 92-year-old Hylda Davies visited the London-based production and saw Ricky's jive in week five. Meeting the show's production team and Ricky's dancing co-star Erin Boag, it was an experience to remember. "I socialised a bit," said Hylda. "I met lots of people and chatted away." As part of the surprise VIP package her grandson set up for Hylda, she was welcomed onto the dance floor at BBC Television Centre to warm-up the crowd prior to the live show. She also received a 2010 Strictly annual signed by the glamorous dancers and a copy of Len's new book after meeting the judge. "It's so clever and it's so pretty," said Hylda after she visited her grandson, Ricky on set. "I was amazed at how small it was, because on television you think of a huge hall, but when you get there it's adequate - you wouldn't call it enormous." Celebrity glamour But the glitz and glamour of the show didn't intimidate Hylda. "I'm not really a celebrity, but I enjoyed seeing it all," she said.

Hylda hopes Ricky, who is competing in the show with professional dancer Erin Boag, will go on to win the event - but he has already endured two dance-offs with 25/40 in the Salsa and 29/40 in the Viennese Waltz before being saved by the judges. "There's some people who have been at it for a lot longer than Ricky and probably got a better chance, but he's doing very well," said Hylda. And her favourite dancers? "Well I thought they were all lovely, the young girls are so beautiful and they're so graceful," said Hylda. "When you watch them they seem as though they float into the man's arms, but you have to think of the amount of weight they manage to sling around from side to side - it's all wonderful." Ricky Groves is the son of Hylda's eldest son,
Bob Davies,
with Groves being his stage name. It seems that the ex-Eastenders' actor comes from a bit of a dancing dynasty. "We're going back a few years, but that was the highlight of the week, going to a dance at the weekend," said Hylda. "Wherever you lived there was always a hall - if you were very good you went to a church dance but they were a bit boring! "There was usually a nice hall somewhere near with a good band - you sussed out the area and found out where the best place was." Hylda moved from London to Norfolk eight years ago and says she wouldn't move back to the high-life in the capital city any time soon. "When I go back for family reasons I think, 'Aren't there a lot of people here?' You get used to Norfolk - it's rather lovely."
