The 30th anniversary of BBC Children in Need is in 2009

Hundreds of organisations are using grant money from Children in Need to help improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people.

Despite the economic conditions, the 2008 Appeal raised a record breaking £37.8m which has helped more than 700 projects across the UK.

In Norfolk more than £714,000 has been awarded to 16 projects in local grants.

This year marks the 30th BBC Children in Need Appeal and the main event happens on Friday, 20 November, 2009.

BBC Radio Norfolk's Nick Conrad will be hitting the road on Children in Need day and visiting fundraisers around Norfolk.

Accompanied by Pudsey himself, Nick will be finding out the wacky lengths that people go to in order to support the charity.

BBC Radio Norfolk will also be broadcasting live from Palmers Department Store in Great Yarmouth on Children in Need day.

Come along and watch as Graham and Karen present their morning show live from the town from 10am - 1pm, before handing the microphone over to Stephen Bumfrey, who will broadcast his programme live from Great Yarmouth from 1 - 4pm.

Look East will be coming from Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire on Children in Need day. If you can't make it along to the event, Sue Marchant will be presenting her programme live from Millbrook on BBC Radio Norfolk between 7 and 10pm.

Vanessa Feltz is hosting a special programme from backstage at Television Centre in London.

Filled with all the stars and gossip from the Children in Need extravaganza, Vanessa's programme will be on BBC Radio Norfolk from 10pm.
