With Becky Betts still away on holiday, Nanette Aldous took centre stage for Treasure Quest on Sunday, 21 June, 2009. She'd been in the hot-seat before, so she was feeling confident as she began her Father's Day mission in Martham.
Clue one: "The song says don't you stop, could be a clockwork shoe. If first you go to the shop, they will point you to the top." Nanette headed to Horsey, where it sounded like she might need a head for heights to locate the next clue.
After climbing up a rather shaky staircase, Nanette found the clue above the door at the top of Horsey Windpump. It was rather precarious to find, but Nanette is made of sterner stuff and she was soon ready to press on to the next location.
Whilst at Horsey Windpump, Nanette went on to the viewing platform, took a breather and enjoyed the stunning view of Horsey Mere and the broadland landscape, all the way to the coast. The Horsey Estate is notable for breeding birds and wintering wildfowl.
Clue two: "Put some sodium chloride, shaken up over your porcine, like a brand new country, where you'll discover the blooming clue," took Nanette to Newlands newsagent and florist in Stalham, where she found the next riddle.
Clue three: "A battle between implements of flight, did some shooting here, down by half a partnership, a single Ouri's heavenly body, would be a good steer." Nanette found the clue aboard the Missouri Star broads cruiser at Womack Staithe, Ludham.
Clue four: "The very darkest of every rose, added to colour's first hound-haunted noble, literature is flowering here, Charles's tale is most famed for first and final." Nanette tracked down the treasure at St Bartholomew's Church, Sloley.
The treasure was hidden in the "Tale of Two Cities" exhibit at the "Tell Me a Story" flower festival at St Bartholomew's Church. With both Jenny Kirk and Nanette finding the treasure in her absence, Becky will be in for a tough task next week.
