With Becky Betts taking a well earned rest, the mantle of Treasure Quester supreme fell to Jenny Kirk on Sunday, 14 June, 2009. Her first assignment began on a beautiful sunny morning outside Carrow Road in Norwich.
Clue one: "The locals miss one out here, and make it sound like a place, where you'd need Major's hotline. When you find the old one with the clue, you'll see how far you've come," led Jenny to the old milestone at Colney.
Clue two: "Henry's group has been banned, the signs of the Latin sixth, added to the monarch, is where you'll find the clue." Jenny tracked down the clue in Barford, where it was hidden on the Viking-themed village sign.
Clue three: "This one is nicely carried, you might have a college of these, which are celebrated since one. Take to the skins for the clue." Jenny headed to the Welborne Arts Festival and found the African drummers.
In order to receive clue four, Jenny had to be hands-on and maintain a rhythm on an African drum. She gave it a go and was just about good enough to win over the prize. After stopping for pictures, she was back on the road.
Clue four: "The dining toll could be paid here, where Yanks would drop the 'h'. The name you seek got Sally nominated, but Loretta made it famous." Jenny found the fifth riddle on a tub of 'hotlips' at Norfolk Herbs, Dillington.
Clue five: "This heavy one can break an arm they say, the festive ghost swaps 'o' for 'a'. We earlier named the owners of this luxury brand, called in honour of that celebrated here, all the holy ones hold notice of the treasure."
The treasure was located on the notice board outside the church at Swanton Morley. An exhausted, but very happy Jenny had done it on her first attempt at Treasure Quest! Let's hope that next week is just as productive.
