The Royal Mail has chosen an image of Madonna and Child from stained glass at Ormesby St Michael, near Great Yarmouth, for its Christmas stamps.

The 19th Century glass, designed by Henry Holiday, is being used for the Royal Mail's 2009 theme of nativity.

"It's lovely to think we are on the map... and a first class stamp too!" said Granville Lanham, church warden.

With expected collection sales of half a billion, Madonna and Child will cost 39p and is on sale in November 2009.
