A BBC cameraman from Norfolk has been treated in hospital after he was attacked by a monkey at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India.

Shaun Whitmore was struck by a langur monkey when it lunged for his mobile phone as he entered the athletes' village with Newsround's Sonali Shah.

The animal, used on the site to scare away smaller simians, cut his hand.

"When the security staff asked how I'd done it and I mentioned monkey it all got a little bit scary," said Shaun.

The 42-year-old was taken to the local hospital to have rabies and tetanus injections and will need three more jabs over the next few days.

The monkey was on a long leash and dragged away by its handler after the incident.
