And they're off! The third annual Fun Run got underway at 11am on a damp morning, with competitors taking part in a 3km (1.86 mile) or a 5.8km (3.6 mile) run.
Both races started at Church Road and passed through the entire village, before returning along country roads back to the point of commencement.
People taking part in the Fun Run raised money for charities including Kidney Research UK. One hundred and one extra entries on the day brought in an additional income of £885.
Runners had to don a full Santa outfit, which they received at the Village Hall, in order to run the race. Clothing included a jacket, trousers, belt, hat and beard.
People of all ages and abilities took part in the Santa Fun Run, with amateur athletes and even the youngest competitors enjoying the festive morning jog.
The event was organised by the Bunwell Strollers and started by Paul Evans, Chicago marathon winner and Norfolk Athletics development officer.
Providing some added wet weather fun, on the final stretch runners had to battle a ford. Many opted to use the dry bridge, but others battled through the water to mass praise from the spectators.
The Bunwell Santa Fun Run 2009 raised around £2,000 from race entries alone. The first finisher was 12-year-old Tom Horsnell who completed the 3km (1.86 mile) event in 14 mins 34 secs.
On the podium for the male 5.8km (3.6 mile) event were Jack Gillick (20 mins 21 secs), Perry Mann (21 mins 15 secs) and Khamees Alothman (21 mins 41 secs).
Female winners of the 5.8km (3.6 mile) event were Sharon Hurren (24 mins 52 secs), Adele Stach-Kevitz (24 mins 53 secs) and Lisa Godwin (26 mins 26 secs).
Joining along with the pack for the third year running were BBC Radio Norfolk's Phil Daley (left) and Stephen Bumfrey (right), who got into the spirit of things as the end came in sight!
As the runners approached the finish line, the younger Santa Claus' were greeted with hugs from their parents and a glass a water to cool themselves down.
All competitors in the Bunwell Santa Fun Run received medallions for their efforts, along with a much needed boost from an energy bar.
Making the task twice as difficult for themselves, some competitors decided to run and entertain the other Santa Claus' along the way.
Runners came from all over Norfolk and beyond to take part in the races and they smiled with glee as they were rewarded for their money-raising efforts.
