Pumpkin boom hits Norfolk farmers

Some farmers are simply dumping their harvest, leaving the pumpkins to rot

A bumper harvest of pumpkins brought on by the hot, dry, summer in Norfolk has forced some farmers to slash their prices in half.

This year Norfolk's farmers have produced 50% more pumpkins, causing some supermarkets to sell them for £1.

To avoid flooding the market at Halloween, many farmers are choosing instead to dump their produce.

"If you do get a huge crop, you run the risk of having to dispose of them," said farmer Algy Richard Garrod.
