Springwatch revealed its plans for 2009 during a press conference at Pensthorpe Nature Reserve, the Norfolk base for the prime time BBC2 wildlife programme. All photos by Martin Barber.

The Pensthorpe reserve also has badgers, so the gauntlet was thrown as to whether Kate's Norfolk team or Gordon's Essex badger unit would see them first.

Martin Hugh-Games joins the Springwatch presentation team. Here he records his first video blog for the Springwatch website and shares adventures from his wildlife holiday series around the UK.
