Singer-songwriter Caomhe is just one of the acts playing at the Playhouse

The line-up has been chosen for Play the Playhouse 5, a night for young Norfolk bands. The bill at the venue in Norwich's St George's Street will veer from electro to acoustic and indie to funk. "It's a really good line-up and we have people that are jaw-droppingly good," said Caz Slota, gig organiser. The showcase on Saturday, 24 October, 2009, will feature acts Caomhe, Epichunt, George Cheetham, Les Hectors and Uncle Stash. The concert has been specially staged for musicians aged from 14 to 19 who sometimes find it hard to book gigs. It's the fifth time the 300-seat venue has hosted Play the Playhouse and for some of the teenage acts it will be the first time they've played in front of such a large crowd. Introduce "It's a chance to introduce the bands to a new audience," said Caz. The 2009 round of talent will be re-treading the steps of artists such as indie favourites The Kabeedies and up-and-coming singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, who both played the Playhouse's first showcase in February 2007. Each act will get to perform 20 minutes of their original music at the gig after they were picked by a panel of music professionals from around Norwich. Expected highlights Highlights are expected to include Epichunt's electro set which features tracks made with two Nintendo Gameboys. Play The Playhouse 5 has been supported by BBC Norfolk Introducing. The show, which is broadcast on BBC Radio Norfolk each Friday between 7 and 8pm, has been helping to publicise the search for bands as well as playing music by the chosen acts. If you're a band that's missed out on this year's showcase, then Play The Playhouse will be back in February 2010 - check their
