English mustard faces competition

Colman's has been producing their brand of mustard in Norfolk since 1814

Sales of English mustard are down due to strong competition from milder foreign mustards.

The decline of the traditional Sunday roast and people's changing tastes have been blamed for the sales drop of 6.4% since 2008.

But the historic brand, Colman's of Norwich, are countering the trend by introducing new flavours.

"Beer flavour mustard is now massively popular," said Christina Lister of Colman's Mustard Shop, Norwich.
