Garments designed by Michael O'Connor, who won an Oscar and BAFTA for his costumier work on film The Duchess, are on display at Holkham Hall in Norfolk.

"One of the gowns Keira Knightley wore was absolutely stunning," said Colin Shearer - house deputy administrator at Holkham Hall.

Some of the filming for the film took place at the north Norfolk estate.

The exhibition, which opened on Thursday, 28 May, runs until the end of August 2009.

Four costumes from the film are exhibited, including one of Keira Knightley's costumes as The Duchess and one of Ralph Fiennes as The Duke.

"The fabric that is used to make the dress has a silk element to it so it looks slightly creased," said Christine McSweeny, from Cosprop who helped organise the exhibition.

"With HD, film makers have to consider the way different colours work on screen - you don't see many bright white clothes in films because they stand out too much," she added.

The Duchess Exhibition runs from Thursday, 28 May until the end of August 2009. Opening times are Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 noon - 4pm.
