The show, Très Méchant(s) - Bombs per Minute, provided festival goers with 35 minutes of high impact drumming and spectacular fireworks to an enthusiastic audience.
The show started in darkness to the sound of a ticking clock and haunting bell before fireworks erupted into the night sky above Earlham Park in a continuous, almost hypnotic, flow.
This work of theatre and pyrotechnics questioned the relationship between violence and creation and asked where can we look to find peace in an increasingly angry world.
Bombs per Minute was staged as one of the many free events in the Norfolk & Norwich Festival's 2009 series, hoping to encourage people across Norfolk to try new forms of cultural entertainment.
The production by Les Commandos Percu at Earlham Park follows on from last year's popular fireworks festival finale that featured Spain's Xarxa Teatre.
Les Commandos Percu have been performing their unique blend of fireworks and percussive theatre at festivals throughout the world for more than 15 years.
Les Commandos Percu features five musicians, two pyrotechnists and support crew. Très Méchant(s) - Bombs per Minute is one of five shows in the company's repertoire.
Norfolk & Norwich Festival organisers estimated more than 5000 people attended the fireworks and percussion spectacular in Earlham Park on Saturday, 2 May, 2009.
The Norfolk & Norwich Festival is one of the oldest city festivals the UK. "In scale and ambition, this ancient festival is now one of the top five in the UK," said festival director Jonathan Holloway.
