The North West starts to go digital from 4 Nov 2009

The BBC is working with Community Service Volunteers (CSV) to make sure that everyone in the North West is ready for the switch to digital TV.

In November 2009, the TV transmitters in this region will go fully digital affecting millions of viewers.

We are looking for hundreds of volunteers to help to spread the message amongst vulnerable people about digital switchover.

If you'd like to get involved, then get in touch with CSV (details below).

Digital Roadshow
The Digital UK roadshow is visiting locations across the Granada region from June to December 2009. Find out when it's coming to your area:

With less than 100 days to the start of digital TV switchover across the North West the volunteering charity CSV is asking community spirited people to take time to make sure no-one wakes up to a blank telly when switchover starts.

Televisions in Granada will be switching to digital on the 4th November 2009 and if people haven't taken action before then they will not be able to watch their favourite programmes.

CSV is working with the BBC in the North West to help spread the word on the Switchover Help Scheme, which is being offered to people over 75 or on benefits.

They are appealing for local community minded people who like to chat, and who have a good knowledge of their area to help.

Samantha Barlow, CSV Community Outreach Manager for the North West said:

"The areas which need covering are Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire and Cheshire. So we need volunteers of all levels and ages whether they are willing to hand out leaflets, talk at community centres, volunteer in our offices or just help a neighbour in need. Even if it's only a few hours over a week, it would really help make sure that we don't leave anyone out.

"We will provide you with all the training you need and go through all the promotional material with you. You don't need to be technically minded, just friendly, willing and able to talk to people where you live."

If you'd like to know more please email Samantha Barlow or ring 0161 244 3060.
