Beat The Radar say the free gig is "a refreshing change "

Rising indie stars Beat The Radar say BBC Radio Manchester's Introducing Live nights are "a refreshing change". Speaking ahead of the live showcase on Friday 31 July, singer Jonny Swift said that the band are particularly impressed by the lack of an entry fee. He says that "the fact that it is a free entry gig means a lot, as hopefully there will be more people than your average gig." Last month, Kid British headlined the showcase, playing to a capacity crowd. Jonny said that it "makes a refreshing change from playing gigs where the entrance fee costs more than a week's shopping, so much respect to the BBC on this." He added that he's particularly looking forward to playing the night as he's both a fan of the venue, The Ruby Lounge, and the other two bands playing, The Answering Machine and May 68, "who we are also friends with." When asked about the show, May 68 agreed with Jonny's sentiment, saying they're "delighted to have been invited to play the next free live event at The Ruby Lounge". They added a "big thanks to Sam Walker and the BBC Introducing team" for the invite to play and for "great support right from the start". BBC Manchester Introducing Live with The Answering Machine, May 68 and Beat The Radar is at The Ruby Lounge on High Street on Friday 31 July at 8pm. Entry is free - it is first come, first served until the venue reaches capacity, so arrive early to avoid disappointment.
