Flushed with success: Beat The Radar

Beat The Radar have revealed how a chance meeting in a practice room bathroom led to the band being signed.

Speaking on Introducing... with Sam Walker, bassist Rowan Smith said that he met Akoustik Anarkhy's Noel Vazquez while taking a break from rehearsals.

"I randomly bumped into him in the toilet," Rowan explained, "and said who we were and he checked us out."

That led to Noel attending one of the band's later rehearsals and offering them a deal with his label.

According to Rowan, the suddenness of the offer took the band by surprise, as they were only expecting Noel to have a listen to their music online.

"We thought he was just going to ask to us to play a gig at one of his club nights, but then he turned round and offered us a deal, so we snapped it up."

Beat The Radar have since been working on their debut album for Akoustik Anarkhy and released their debut single, Telephone Conversation, on the label on Monday 1 June.

Introducing... with Sam Walker is on BBC Radio Manchester every Sunday from 10pm to 1am.
