Shoppers on the Tube

Your guide to using the Tube over the New Year - what is running and what is not.

Remember to also use the links on the right of the pages to get LIVE traffic news throughout the holiday period.

New Year's Eve

First trains at Monday to Friday times, then reduced Saturday services on all lines with trains running throughout the night. Travel will be free on the Tube, DLR, buses and trams between 2345 and 0430 GMT on New Year's Day.

Bakerloo Line: Buses will replace trains between Stonebridge Park and Queen's Park.

Hammersmith & City Line: No service between 1000 and 1530 GMT and between 1830 - 0330 GMT.

Metropolitan line: No service between Baker Street and Aldgate after 1000 GMT. Chiltern Railways will run a Saturday service with extra peak hour and late night trains.

Piccadilly line: No service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge.

Stations will stay open all night in some form, with the following exceptions:

  • Cannon Street
  • Charing Cross (exit only from 2345, reopening by 0300 GMT), Covent Garden (exit only from 1900, reopening by 0300 GMT)
  • Embankment (closed 2330, reopening by 0015 GMT)
  • Heathrow Terminal 4 (closed 0009-0459 GMT)
  • Kensington (Olympia) (closed 2350-0705 GMT)
  • Lambeth North (closed 2330, reopening by 0300 GMT)
  • Leicester Square (open for interchange and exit only between 2000 and 0015 GMT; open before/after these times)
  • Russell Square (exit only from 2230, reopening by 0300 GMT)
  • Westminster (open for interchange and exit only after 2130, closed 2200, reopening by 0200 GMT)
  • Wood Green (closed 2230-0700 GMT)

New Year's Day

A reduced service will run between 0500 and 1100 GMT, every 15-20 minutes in central London and every 30 minutes on the branches. For the rest of the day a reduced service will run with last trains at Monday to Friday times.

The following exceptions apply:

Bakerloo Line: Overnight and throughout the day, buses will replace trains between Stonebridge Park and Queen's Park.

Circle and District Lines: Cannon Street station closes at 1930 GMT.

Waterloo & City Line: No service.

Sunday 2 January

Circle line: No service.

District line: No service between Embankment and Aldgate East.

Hammersmith & City line: No service between King's Cross St Pancras and Barking. Westbound trains will not call at Latimer Road.

Metropolitan line: No service between Baker Street and Aldgate.

Monday 3 January

A Saturday service.

Circle line: No service.

District line: No service between Embankment and Aldgate East.

Hammersmith & City line: No service between King's Cross St Pancras and Barking. Westbound trains will not call at Latimer Road.

Metropolitan line: No service between Baker Street and Aldgate.

Waterloo & City line: No service.
