BBC London's weather presenter Peter Cockroft believes parts of London could see between 5 and 10cm of snow on Friday during the morning which could cause problems on the capital's roads and transport network.
He said: "The snow that falls on Thursday night and Friday will settle.
"Ice and icy winds are likely to cause problems as well. It's time to 'wrap up very warm'."
To avoid the spectacle of London buses trapped in their depots, as we saw in February, Transport for London organised for bus garage access roads and depots to be gritted from Wednesday night in anticipation.

School closures
Weather in the UK comes mostly from the Atlantic, bringing relatively warm, moist air.
This week the air has been coming from the east, where it has been sitting over very cold, dry land in continental Europe.
As the cold, dry air from Russia travels over the relatively warm waters of the North Sea it will pick up some moisture, which will then condense as it hits the cold land of the UK.
This will mean heavier snow showers overnight Thursday and Friday. Daytime temperatures will not rise much above freezing.
