Another successful sporting year has been celebrated, with the announcement of the winners of the BBC London Sports Awards 2009, recognising and honouring sporting achievement in the capital.
BBC London Sports Personality of the Year 2009: David Haye
This year's Manager of the Year Award went to Fulham's manager, Roy Hodgson who followed up his 'Great Escape' season by guiding the club to their best ever finish of seventh in the Premier League and, as a result, Europa League football.
The BBC London Sports personality Award went to Bermondsey boxer and WBA World Heavyweight Champion, David Haye.
Chelsea and England defender Ashley Cole was named Footballer of the year after becoming the first footballer in the modern era to win the FA Cup five times.
The Unsung Hero Award for London, which honours volunteers who have made a real difference to sport in their community, was awarded to 86-year-old Doreen Fitch, who is currently the membership secretary for the South London Swimming Club.
BBC London Athlete of the Year 2009: Phillips Idowu
This year's BBC London Sports Awards also honoured Hackney born triple jumper, Phillips Idowu, who won Gold at the World Athletics Championships earlier this year.
Middlesex man, Andrew Strauss was named Cricketer of the Year for captaining England to their historic Ashes victory.
The Disabled Athlete of the Year was awarded to Enfield man and top rower, Tom Aggar, reigning Paralympic and World Champion in the ASM single scull boat class.
