'I was scared to look in the mirror'

Katie Piper

Katie Piper was a model and TV presenter before her life was changed forever when an ex-boyfriend paid someone to throw acid into her face.

Following the horrific attack Katie, 26, needed to go to France for revolutionary skin graft treatment. She is now campaigning for the treatment to be available here in London.

In total, Katie has had over 30 operations.

Eighteen months after her ordeal, Katie has vowed to keep living her life and not to let her attackers win.

She came to the BBC London studios and spoke to Eddie Nestor about her experiences.

Katie Piper works with the charity Dan's Fund for Burns. See their website Dan's Fund for Burns for more details.
