The control room at New Cross Gate is where station announcements are made and where CCTV is monitored. Staff can broadcast to the entire network of stations or to a single platform.
Also based at New Cross Gate control room is a state-of-the-art points system. No more mechanical levers, the signals and points are controlled by computer here.
Just outside of the control room is the depot, where each of the 24m new trains park up each night.
Inside the maintenance depot at New Cross Gate. The front of each train features a door between the two windows which will allow passengers to exit through the front in the event of an emergency.
In another first, there are no doors separating the carriages. Passengers will be able to walk the whole length of the train.
On the platform at Shoreditch High Street, the flagship station in Zone 1. Liverpool Street is just around the corner on Bishopsgate. It is the first new station after Whitechapel.
The station at Shoreditch High Street replaces the old Shoreditch station on the East London line. London Overground expects 30 million passengers to pass through each year.
